Susannah York showcases a talent in the entertainment business, making a name for herself as an actress of stage, film, and television, as well as being an author of children’s books. Though she was born in London in 1939, she was raised in Scotland where she would attend college. She would later return to London to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
York began her film career in 1960 with “Tunes of Glory” . She followed this with a leading role in the movie, “The Greengage Summer” and then co-starring opposite Albert Finney in the Oscar winning best film, “Tom Jones” . Her most celebrated role was in “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?” , which she was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress.
York has also made appearances in popular British television series, like "Holby City” and it’s spin off “Casualty” . Her stage career began in 1978 and continues today on stages from London to Paris.

Though her writing career is less well-known, York has written two fantasy novels aimed at children - “In Search of Unicorns” in 1973 and “Lark’s Castle” in 1976. Both had revisions in the late 1980’s and excerpts of “In Search of Unicorns” was used in the movie “Images”
