The American model, television and film actress, Amy Lysle Smart was born on March 26, 1976in Topanga, California to Judy and John Smart. After studying ballet for ten years, she began her career as a fashion model and enrolled in acting classes at the age of sixteen. During her modeling career Smart worked with director Bruno Aveillan on the Club Med campaign in France, Italy, Tahiti and Mexico.
The first film role for Smart was in “Campfire Tales”directed by Martin Kunert. She played Queenie in the 1996 adaptation of the short story “A&P” by John Updike. She had a minor role in the 1997 film “Starship Troopers” as the co-pilot for Carmen Ibanez (Denise Richards). Smart played the lead role of a young woman from Ohio in the mini-series titled “The 70s.” In the 1999 film “Varsity Blues” she was cast as the girlfriend of a football player, portrayed by James Van Der Beek. Smart has also appeared as the girlfriend of Scott Foley’s character in the television series “Felicity.”
Smart has appeared in several other feature films including: “Road Trip” (2000), “The Butterfly Effect” (2004) and “Rat Race” which co-starred Breckin Meyer, “Starsky & Hutch” (2004) which earned her a nomination for the MTV “Best Kiss” Award. In the 2005 box-office hit romantic comedy “Just Friends” Smart was paired with Ryan Reynolds. Later that same year, she starred as Sarah in “Unhitched,” a British independent film with Seth Green as her co-star.
Smart played Jamie Moyer (aka Tasty Coma Wife), one of main character’s romantic interests in the American sitcom “Scrubs. In 2006, she played the girlfriend of Chev (Jason Statham) in the action thriller “Crank,” reprising her role for the 2009 sequel “High Voltage.”
In 2006 Smart returned to television as a regular cast member in the CBS television series “Smith.” She has also worked as a voice actor for characters in the animated series “Robot Chicken,” which was created by Seth Green. In the 2006 movie Peaceful Warrior, Smart was cast as the character Joy opposite Scott Mechlowicz and Nick Nolte. In the Independent film “Seventh Moon” Smart plays the female lead Melissa.
Smart is currently filming a pilot for an upcoming television drama program where she will play the role of an ambitious prosecutor who becomes the nation’s first female president.
