The 2011 romantic comedy “The Dilemma” from Universal Pictures was directed by Ron Howard with the screenplay written by Allan Loeb. Through all of the ups and downs two guys can go through in college Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James) have stuck it out together as best friends. When Nick decided to get married, Ronny was right there as his best man. But while he’s happy that Nick and Geneva (Winona Ryder) are in love and happy, Ronny is not thinking about getting married anytime in the near future.
As business partners in an auto design firm, Nick and Ronny have been patiently working their way to the day they would get their big break and when they get a shot at a major contract. Totally excited at the prospect of finally being able to live their dream they put their best foot forward and get a chance to prepare a formal presentation.
Ronny and his girlfriend, Beth (Jennifer Connelly), and Nick and Geneva head out to celebrate and then the work to prepare for their big day begins. But Ronny is completely caught off guard when he stumbles upon Geneva in the arms of another man. Unable to imagine what could possibly justify Geneva’s behavior, Ronny launches his own investigation of the facts and comes up with more than a few surprises.
After consulting his own circle of friends about the best way to handle the situation, Ronny still doesn’t know how he can break the news to Nick, plus he needs to be 100% sure about what is going on. He feels like he’s in a no win situation; if he tells Nick he could break up his marriage, but if he doesn’t tell him, then he is not truly being honest with him. Unfortunately this situation is making it almost impossible for him to concentrate on the presentation because he is afraid he will blurt out the truth and destroy Nick’s marriage.
But time is running out and Ronny’s investigation has proven to be a lot more dangerous than he expected. Now with only a few days to their presentation Ronny tries to get his life back in order so he can make the right decision.
