Sara (Leighton Meester) was really excited about going to college and was looking forward to the classes, making new friends and attending all of the parties she had heard so much about. But she was very curious about who her roommate would be and was pleased when she met Rebecca (Minka Kelly).
Rebecca was also glad to meet Sara and after some small talk, she helped Rebecca get settled in. When Sara admired her wardrobe, Rebecca told her she could borrow anything that she liked, because she had always wanted a sister. From that point on, Sara and Rebecca did just about everything together, they seemed to have so much in common and enjoyed each other’s company a lot.
Sara was invited by Rebecca to come with her to meet her family. But when they arrived at Rebecca’s home, Sara was amazed to see it was not just a house, it was a mansion. And when she met Rebecca’s mother (Frances Fisher), she was surprised to learn that she was on medication. Although Sara had never seen Rebecca take anything, she decides not to confront her about it.
Things were going well and Sara was happy. One night some of the girls decided to go out for the night and she meets Stephen (Cam Gigandet). Soon they became a couple and Sara began to spend less time with Rebecca. Sara didn’t see that this was causing a problem with Rebecca until one of the other girls in the dorm told her that Rebecca was acting weird. Sara wondered why Rebecca was acting so distant, but thought it was just a case of jealousy.
But for Rebecca it was more than just jealousy; she was determined to keep Sara to herself and begins to stalk Stephen. Cornering him in a parking lot, she douses him with lighter fluid and threatens to set him on fire. One by one, Rebecca begins to try to eliminate everyone who Sara spends time. But when Sara refuses to accept Rebecca’s terms soon she finds herself in a fight for her life.
