Coming Soon: “Hop” Starring: Russell Brand and James Marsden Opens April 1st

The 2011 animated family comedy “Hop” from Universal Pictures was directed by Tim Hill with the screenplay written by Cinco Paul, Ken Daurio and Brian Lynch. Starring: Russell Brand, James Marsden, Hugh Laurie, Elizabeth Perkins, Gary Cole, Jack McBrayer, Bill Hader, Chelsea Handler, David Hasselhoff, Kaley Cuoco and Veronica Alicino.

Based on the idea of the 4,000 year old tradition of the Easter Bunny who brings all sorts of wonderful candies to children around the world,  this bizarre tale updates the image of the warm and cuddly creature to a modern, fame seeking rabbit who thinks the whole idea is a bit outdated and boring. Hop (Russell Brand) believes that his destiny is to be a rock star and is determined to set off in pursuit of his dream. Hop’s father (Hugh Laurie) doesn’t understand why Hop isn’t content living on Easter Island and doing his traditional duties on one day out of the year; he’s totally confused by his son’s ambition.

But seeing the whole world in one day is not enough for Hop who decides to see what the world is like before Easter and ends up in Hollywood, California to seek his fame and fortune. Unfortunately Hop is not familiar with the modern way of the world and is struck by a car driven by Fred (James Marsden) an unemployed slacker, who is totally freaked out after discovering that Hop was a talking rabbit.

Obligated to care for his near road-kill victim, Fred takes Hop to his apartment and listens to the story of Hop’s quest. Completely bewildered by the fact that this rabbit could talk, he is even more confused about how Hop plans to make his dreams a reality. By as the days turn into weeks Hop proves to be the houseguest from Hell and finally Fred decides to abandon Hop to the wild.

After much begging and pleading, along with Hop’s impressive feat of being able to produce jelly beans, Fred has a change of heart and the two return to Fred’s house. Hop returns to his rock star drummer practice and lands an audition with producer David Hasselhoff, who is extremely impressed by Hop and the Easter Chicks. It looks like Hop’s dream is about to become a reality.

But when Fred’s girlfriend Samantha (Kaley Cuoco) comes to visit and discovers Fred’s new “stuffed animal” Hop, Fred finds that Hop ambitions may also include dating his girlfriend.
