The 2011 animated family comedy “Rio” from 20th Century Fox was directed by Carlos Saldanha with the screenplay written by Don Rhymer. In a tale of adventure, romance and life in the animal kingdom around the world, the central character in this 3-D animation feature is a somewhat out of place macaw named Blu (Jesse Eisenberg)who is living under the impression that he is the only one left from his rare species. Blu has been a bit down in the dumps because he believes he is alone in the world.
Blu and he had been raised by Linda (Leslie Mann)since he was a hatchling; his life was calm and peaceful in Moose Lake with his caregiver Linda who pampered him a lot leaves his cozy home in Minnesota to head for Rio de Janerio. But his entire life changes when Linda discovers that there is indeed another macaw of his species. Linda decides to embark on the journey to mate Blu with the female that has been found in Rio Janerio. This was a huge event for Blu and the possibility of mating gets Blu so excited he can hardly keep his feathers in place.
The lush atmosphere of Brazil and the intoxicating sights in one of the worlds most visited places. Blu manages to find the macaw, but instead of a docile, dainty bird he finds an independent, strong-willed Jewel (Anne Hathaway) who wasn’t impressed with Blu at all. Love at first sight for Blu turns out to be a rather humbling experience when Jewel discovers that Blu isn’t exactly crazy about flying.
But together these two are an irresistible catch for corrupt animal smugglers who plan to sell the pair of rare birds to the highest bidder. As a result, Jewel and Blu have to learn how to get along with they both wanted to survive. The creators of the “Ice Age” films bring together a fantastic crew to tell the hilarious adventures of two birds of a feather who are stuck together in a life or death race to escape from their captors. In the process they both discover things about themselves and each other that surprised them both. If they survive, he may have won a chance to win her heart.
