Angie Dickinson is one of the most famous American actress, born in 1931 in North Dakota. The actress is recognized as one of the high class performers of the cinema industry. She had dreamed of being a writer at one time because of her father’s career. This dream changed after she won her first beauty pageant. Who could have guessed she would become of the top Hollywood actress.

In 1953, Angie entered a local Miss America contest and won second place. The same year she participated in another contest sponsored by NBC and appeared in a variety of shows. Her first bit of fame became possible through the television series “The Millionaire”. She got her .

Dickinson also had a successful career on television. Her most well known role was of Sergeant Pepper in 1974 in a cop drama television show called “Police Woman”. Angie became one of the most highly regarded actresses on big screen and television. Ranking among the major highlights of her career was the role with the Ronald Reagan in “The Killers” (1964). By this time she was becoming one of the finest actors of the cinema.

Angie was married to Gene Dickinson for a short time. Gene was a football star at the time of their marriage. She remarried again later and had one daughter. She had to go through the grief of her daughter’s suicide.

The bright actress is currently performing in television shows. One of her latest roles seen by the audience was an episode of Judging Amy. She has also very recently appeared in a movie for Hallmark in 2009 called “Mending Fences”. Angie Dickinson has been nominated as one of People magazine’s top sexiest film stars of all time. She has had a very good career and continues to do what she loves, while proving she has the finest acting skills of any female performer in recent history

The actress has been recognized by various awards ceremonies. In 1981, she won the Saturn Award for best actress in “Dressed to kill”. In 1960 and 1975, Angie won a Golden Globe for Police Woman. She has also been nominated for several other awards. Some of those nominations were because of her role as Sergeant Pepper. She is an actress that will be remembered for her astonishing roles in television shows and films.

She won the nominations thrice in the years between 1975 and 1977 for outstanding leading actress in the dynamic Drama series. Her recent plays of the century was “Pay It Forward” (2000), Duets (2000), and “Big Bad Love” in 2001.

The actress has become one of the most successful actresses and has proved her acting skills very well. Singers have also referred to her in their songs like Tori Amos in her song “Putting the Damage on”.
